It is around this time that Year 11 students are getting ready to make up their minds about the A Levels they will be taking in college/sixth form next year. As someone who went though the same thing last year I thought I would do a post about my top 3 rules when picking your subjects....
Rule 1
Check What You Need For The Next Step Of Education
This rule really only makes sense if you know what you want to do for a career, it is perfectly okay to have no idea about your next step after college (many of my mates did not have a clue) but if you are sure about your path e.g. university, check what you need subject-whys for that course. You don't want to get to applying for your degree and not have the right subjects.
Rule 2
Don't Pick Your Subjects For Any Other Reason But You
Don't pick a subject because your best mate is doing it, don't pick a subject because your boyfriend/girlfriend is doing it, don't pick a subject because you favorite teacher is timetabled to teach it. Everyone is difference and what is right for your friends may not be right for you, don't let anyone else influence your subjects.
Rule 3
Pick Subjects You Enjoy!!!
This is the most important rule!
If you don't enjoy your subjects and don't have a strong interest in them you are going find it hard to find the motivation to study and learn. The more you enjoy a subject the more easy and fun you will find you education, so pick the subjects you love!
Hope this helped!
